Share Our Strength's Great American Bake Sale

A most rewarding experience for THE Original Basket Boutique Denver. A delicious welcoming display of goodies and treats was set-up in the Lakewood Community. Our participation in Share Our Strength's Great American Bake Sale, with your support, contributed our work in funding summer and after school feeding programs. Funds raised helped to ensure kids received nutritious food during critical times when they are out of school and particularly venerable to hunger.

Thought you would like to know—while we were setting up our Great American Bake Sale, a gentleman leaving the Well Fargo Bank waited patiently to be the first in line to purchase 2 dozen fresh baked cookies. Our first sale of the morning, the sweet smell of freshly baked goodies and our display was looking great and now others are waiting in line and those walking by had great interest in the conversations and pleasant comments that were being shared! As we greeted the next guest standing in line, we notice the gentleman with the 24 freshly baked cookies going back into the bank. We later found out he was giving them to the employees at Wells Fargo Bank as his way of saying thank you and showing a little appreciation for what could make anyone person feel the joy of receiving. Well it wasn't but a few minutes later when the manager of the Wells Fargo Bank stood in line, looking over the cookies, cupcakes, brownies and cakes just waiting for his turn. Does it get any better? This manager was only doing what any thoughtful customer of the bank was doing—giving back. Now the giving was being shared a greater level to the banks customers.
Do the simple things matter? Can we make a difference everyday? Yes. It begins with all of us. One turns into twenty-four, which in turns into fort-eight...
